LA wildfires: Tiger Woods-hosted Genesis Invitational moved away from Riviera County Club by PGA Tour | Golf News

The upcoming Genesis Invitational has been moved from Riviera Country Club due to ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, the PGA Tour confirmed Thursday.

Tiger Woods was scheduled to host the tournament, scheduled for February 13-16, on the course in Pacific Palisades, which was destroyed by fires.

Details of the new venue and arrangements for the PGA Tour Signature Event – which features a star-studded field – are set to follow.

“The PGA Tour remains focused on the safety and well-being of those affected by the unprecedented natural disaster in the greater Los Angeles area,” the PGA Tour said in a statement.

“We are grateful for the life-saving efforts of our first responders and the tireless work being done to put an end to these tragic wildfires.

“We have determined that The Genesis Invitational 2025 will be played at an alternate venue the week of February 10-16.

“An update on the venue and additional tournament information will be provided in the coming days.”

Woods’ focus on helping “everyone who’s suffering”

Speaking earlier in the week, Woods insisted his focus was on supporting those affected by the bushfires, not on what would happen in the tournament.

“We’re trying to figure everything out and make sure everyone is safe and we have meetings scheduled going forward,” Woods said Tuesday.

“So far, we’re not really focused on the tournament. It’s more about what we can do to help everyone who is struggling, who have lost their homes and had their lives changed. There are so many other things bigger than that. [tournament]”.
